Dns does not exist windows 7 activation error
Answered by:. Archived Forums. Windows 7 Security. Sign in to vote. I was given a computer that was upgraded to Windows 7 Pro over an already installed Windows Vista, after a few episodes of repairs that I had to make because of gpu issues I made an image backup and restored the backup to a different hard drive that installed the Windows 7 Pro over another Windows Vista but the Windows 7 cannot activate because of an error that says that the "dns name does not exist". Technically I know that this is a security measure to thwart piracy but what I would like to know is can I activate Windows without buying an new key if I cannot obtain the original key or use the one from Windows Vista under the computer?
