Care program skin

Students are trained to provide a variety of services that include skin analysis, facial massage and treatments, peels, waxing, and basic makeup artistry. Training focuses on hands-on, clinical experience and business development. Graduates will be ready for licensure with the Florida Board of Cosmetology at the successful completion of this program.

This course covers the principles and practice of infection control. Students learn the guidelines for healthcare professionals that cover the safe handling of materials, instruments and equipment. They learn classifications and growth of bacteria, various types of infections, and the principles of prevention.

They learn product knowledge on antiseptics, disinfectants, and how to use them, as well as the different equipment used to sterilize facial tools. It covers United States statistical data and resources. Students learn the sanitary procedures and precautions necessary when working with the public. Students then begin to study general sciences: pathology of the skin — recognizing skin diseases and disorders, general anatomy and physiology, histology of the skin, chemistry, electricity, and disorders and diseases of the skin.

Students then learn about skin analysis, skin types and products. Students begin by learning how to set up a treatment room, select and operate facial equipment, learn about electricity, product knowledge, and how to disinfect and sanitize implements and equipment. Students also learn an array of different facial treatments, facial massage techniques, and begin developing their skills through hands-on training.

Advanced procedures i. Students are introduced to basic makeup techniques including facial geometry, color theory, and principles of corrective techniques.
